A toss-up, as it runs
The question goes to both teams at once. Whoever buzzes first answers on their own, and a short clock starts the moment the moderator says their name. Press it: one lamp lights, the other three go dead in the same frame, and the window starts unwinding.
A match, in three lines
Toss-up, bonus, round. The format page has every line of it, with the windows and the draw. Every line of it.
Toss-up
A toss-up is read to both teams at once. Either side may buzz, and the first player recognised answers alone — no conferring. Get it right and your team also gets to hear a bonus.
Bonus
A bonus goes only to whoever took the toss-up before it. Here you can talk it over, and one person gives the answer you agreed on. Bonuses are usually worth more, and the other team never gets a look at them.
Round
A round is a timed block of alternating toss-ups and bonuses from across the six subjects. On a competition day you play them back to back against different schools.
Every round pulls from all six subjects, so a bench is built across them rather than around one. Nobody has to cover the whole board; between them, a team does.
Four steps from walking in to sitting at one of those buzzers are on the join page.
